Report: Man fired a gun near street

A Rome man was in jail without bail Friday after his arrest for allegedly threatening a relative and shooting a gun near a public street, according to reports.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Benjamin Parker Berry, 27, of 38 Hickory St., was intoxicated when he fired the gun outside an Elmwood Street house Thursday night. There were people in the front yard of a home nearby.

He also is accused of sending threatening text and phone messages.

Berry is charged with felony terroristic threats and acts, misdemeanor charges of discharge of a gun or pistol near a public highway or street, discharging a firearm while intoxicated and reckless conduct.
