Three of the singles matches went to a deciding third set, with Berry's Laura Cunningham and Keri McGinnis winning their matches in the third and sixth positions, respectively, and North Georgia's Stasa Vujosevic claiming the victory in the second slot.
Cunningham defeated Juliana Moscoso 6-1, 1-6, 6-3 and McGinnis defeated Matilda Watson 6-0, 3-6, 6-1. Vujosevic came from behind to defeat Kendal Ruffner 2-6, 6-4, 6-2.
The Vikings also picked up a win from Marina Lebrao in the No. 1 singles position. She defeated Laura Chapman 6-4, 6-3.
North Georgia's other singles wins came from Audrey Marlette, who defeated Caitlin Smith 6-3, 6-2 in the fourth position and Jordan Poole, who won her No. 5 singles match against Liz Stepp, 6-1, 6-1.
The Saints were able to win with a split in the singles matches after claiming doubles wins in the second and third positions, where Moscoso and Poole teamed up to squeek past Cunningham and Smith 9-7 in the No. 2 slot and Marlette and Watson defeated Stepp and Rachel Sandoval 8-3.
Berry's top tandem of Lebrao and Ruffner earned an 8-3 victory over Chapman and Vujosevic.
Berry, which fell to 11-7, will close out its season Saturday at Birmingham-Southern.
BERRY MEN'S TENNIS
Berry's Steven Weeks won his match in the No. 5 singles position in straight sets, but North Georgia defeated the Vikings 8-1 in a men's tennis match at Berry's Richards Tennis Courts on Thursday.
Weeks defeated the Saints' Andy McMaster 6-3, 6-4 to earn Berry's lone point in the match. North Georgia won the other five singles matches in straight sets, and swept the doubles matches.
The match was the home finale for the Vikings, who dropped to 11-7 overall. Berry concludes its season Saturday at Birmingham-Southern.
