Georgia climatologist David Stooksbury says Monday that most of the state received less than 70 percent of normal rain over the last three months. He said soil moisture conditions in parts of Georgia are low, and that the Okefenokee Swamp is "very dry."
Stooksbury said the only parts of the state not gripped by drought are north-central and northeast Georgia, as well as parts of central Georgia. He said stream flows are also declining across the state, while wildfire risks are increasing.
