The October meeting of the Spade and Trowel Garden Club was held at the Rome Federated Garden Center. Melanie Caldwell was the meeting’s hostess.

President Vivian Toles announced four club members participated with entries in the North Georgia Fair. Toles won a blue ribbon, the Petite Award, and Best in Show for her entry.

The club voted to send a $100 donation to the federation in honor of Bob Watson in recognition of all the work he has done at the center. This will make him a life member of the federation.

Angie Corpening briefed the members on the club’s trip to the Rise N Shine Organic Farm. The club then traveled to the farm for a tour of the facilities. Rise N Shine Farm has eight acres under cultivation and grows 40 different varieties of certified organic vegetables.
