Two arrested for changing prices on meat

Rome police took a Rome man and woman into custody early Sunday morning after personnel at the Walmart in West Rome observed the woman allegedly changing prices on package of meat.

According to Floyd County jail reports:

Brenda Leigh Butler, 43, 240 Walenda Drive, was charged with theft by shoplifting after store security personnel watched her swap price stickers on ten package of meat, valued at $173.

The incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. Sunday.

Theodore Russell Whittington, 45, 119 Crackerneck Road, was charged with being a party to the crime of shoplifting. Whittington was supposedly with Butler while the price swapping was taking place and transported the women to the store.
