On a day when both their skills and stamina were challenged, a group of elite tennis players were able to pass the test.

Competing in the Boys and Girls 16 Closed tournament amid intense heat — with temperatures in the 90s — several players posted victories in the round of 16.

On the boys side, the list of winners included Korey Lovett, Jess Jones, Anudeep Kodali and Robert Kelly.

The girls winners included Sena Suswam, Amy Yang, Maggie Kane and Helen Altick.

Sarah Hubbard, of Rome, competed in the Round 5 qualifier, falling to Kimberly Schubel, 7-5, 6-3.

In earlier rounds, Hubbard earned a 6-1, 7-6 (1) win over Jena Kelly in Round 4, along with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Emily Metcalf in the Round 4 qualifier.
