A teen discussion panel addressing teen pregnancy, substance abuse, bullying and boredom will start at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Lovejoy Baptist Church, Joy Life Center, 436 Branham Ave.

Free door prizes will be given, free pizza will be served to attendees and the first 100 teens to arrive will receive a free backpack.

A resource fair will precede the forum at 6 p.m. and feature information of interest to teens and parents.

“We encourage and invite Floyd County adults, especially parents, and, of course, teens to attend,” said the Floyd County Teen Resource Center’s Angie Robinson.

“Participation in and response to previous years’ events have demonstrated this forum is an excellent way for youth to provide adults with new understanding of teen issues and for teens to explore ways teens themselves can address the problems they face,” she said.

Rep. Katie Dempsey will moderate the forum.

Northwest Georgia Public Health and Family Connection (Rome-Floyd County Commission on Children and Youth) are the lead agencies sponsoring the Teen Forum, but “it’s a community-sponsored event with broad-based support” said Family Connection’s Carol Willis.

Willis said the forum is an excellent way Floyd County adults can learn what they can do to help address and solve the problems with which today’s teens wrestle.
