It’s been a tough couple of weeks since Christmas for merchants in the Mount Berry Square mall.

Medley, a specialty store located near J.C. Penney owned by Ahmed Badawi has closed along with Touch of Wireless, owned by Steve Badruddin, B. Cooper Ice Cream, owned by Abeed Bawa and most recently, Pokey’s Hometown Sports, owned by Justin Everett.

“The mall didn’t renew our lease,” Everett said. He said the mall management did not offer a reason for not renewing his lease.

Everett said he’s going to try to find a new location in Rome but that probably would not happen right away.

Changes to the mall, now owned by Hull Storey Gibson Companies LLC out of Augusta, Georgia have included the sale of the carousel and elimination of all the kiosks with the exception of a Proactiv skin care products primarily for women.

Hull Storey Gibson handles all of the leasing, property management and redevelopment of Mount Berry Square mall from its corporate offices in Augusta, though it does have a marketing representative, Tricia Dillard, who is on site Monday through Friday.

How about bringing back the carousel and closing everything else? The carousel was the only thing worth going to the mall for. Other than Hot Topic, every store sells crap, and I mean old, outdated by a couple of decades crap. Want little ol' lady or ol' man flower prints from the 80's this is your place.

Don't hold back, now. Tell us how you REALLY feel about the mall.
