Sunday's game recap

Final: Sand Gnats 5, Braves 1 (in Savannah)

The turning point: After the Braves jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, Savannah responded with three runs in the bottom of the first, and the Gnats added two more in the fifth to secure the win in the series finale. It was the second straight win for the Gnats after the Braves won the first two games of the four-game set.

Who did what for Rome: Robby Hefflinger produced two of the Braves’ six hits and raised his average to .281. William Beckwith drove in the Braves’ lone run.

On the mound: Rome starter Fabian Williamson (0-2) took the loss after allowing four runs — three earned — in 4 1-3 innings.

Game notes: The Braves have gone 4-11 in their past 15 games, including losing seven of their past 10. The swoon has offset the good work the Braves did in late June and early July, when they posted a 12-3 record in their first 15 games

after the All-Star break.
