A Rome pawn shop owner accused of selling firearms to convicted felons and trading a gun for drugs was arrested on federal weapons charges Thursday afternoon.

Johnnie Brazier, owner of United Sales and Pawn, faces multiple charges stemming from the illegal sale of firearms, and his arrest concludes a three month investigation by the federal Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms.

The investigation began when a gun recovered from an aggravated assault in Philadelphia was traced back to the 1900 Shorter Ave. pawn shop.

ATF agents began a series of undercover purchases, and the agency says it discovered that Brazier had been selling firearms without appropriately running backgroud checks and once traded an SKS rifle for marijuana
