A Cartersville man was arrested Sunday evening, March 6, after police said he discarded a bag of marijuana in a ditch after running his car off the road, reports state.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Jon Kevin Young, 42, of 13 Janice Lane, Cartersville, was driving on U.S. 27 when he ran his car into a ditch. Police said he then exited the car and began walking when an officer noticed him throw a plastic bag in a ditch.

The officer retrieved the bag, filled with what he believed was marijuana.

When Young was later apprehended the officer said he was unfocused, appeared tired and had glassy eyes.

Young is charged with felony possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and misdemeanor possession of marijuana, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to maintain lane and limited driving permits for certain offenders.

He was released from jail on Monday
