Mr. and Mrs. C. Wade Monk of Rome announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Beth Monk of Southern Pines, N.C., to Captain Damon Knauss of Southern Pines, N.C., son of Mr. and Mrs. Gunnar Knauss of Macungie, Pa.

The bride-to-be is a 2004 graduate of Darlington School and a 2008 graduate of Mercer University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. She is pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Education at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. She is currently employed by Episcopal Day School in Southern Pines, N.C.

Miss Monk is the sister of William Monk of Smyrna. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs Ridley Monk of Sylvester. And the Late Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Robinson.

Knauss is a graduate of the Winchendon School in Winchendon, Mass., a graduate of the University of Scranton in Scranton, Pa., with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pre-Law, a graduate of Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., with a Master of Arts degree in Political Science/International Relations and a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pa., with a Master of Science degree in Law and Criminology. He is currently serving in the United States Army 82nd Airborn Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.

The groom-to-be is the brother of Amber Knauss of Munch, Pa.,

The wedding is scheduled for Nov. 10, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Monk’s Farm in Sylvester.
