Ed Schultz, an MSNBC talk show host, has made many uncivil remarks recently. He suggested that Dick Cheney should have his heart ripped out, kicked around and stuffed back inside him. He further said that Mr. Cheney was an enemy of this country, and asked the Lord to take him to the promised land. Mr. Schultz also called Laura Ingraham, the host of a daytime radio show, a talk slut.
Bill Maher, who has an HBO TV show, has called Sarah Palin any number of unprintable names, and as a follow-up to Hilary Rosen’s recent insult to Ann Romney, Maher said she “has never gotten her ass out of the house to work.”
Apparently Mr. Pitts missed these news stories, possibly because he may not enjoy the diversity that other news sources bring to light. In the interest of fairness he really should try some.

i am amazed that you seek to point out that "Both Parties" are rude and say hateful things in an apparent attempt to excuse right wing rhetoric.
Lets stipulate before we go any further that some on the left choose to be blunt in their comments towards the right.
Overall however these statements are few and far between.
On the right wing the over the top rhetoric is a constant cacophony of hate and disgust.
lets compare....You mention Ed Schultz and Bill Maher....Ok here are some right wing types whose every word drips hate and anger.
Rush Limbaugh: Racist, Mysoginist and oxy addict...Yet loved and revered by the right...
Ted Nugent: Bad Musician, Pedophile and Romney backer. Loved by the NRA
Michael Savage: Hateful...Hateful Hateful.
Michelle Malkin: Once advocated attacking children who dare to ask the president a question that when he answers paints him in a favorable light
Hannity/Colmes, Glenn Back, laura Ingraham, and ALL of FOX news.
Alan West: War Criminal and disgrace
George W. Bush and Dick Cheney: War Criminals both: Actually led the country to war for false reasons. Got thousands of Americans killed in said war.
I sincerely wish that more on the left would fight fire with fire......
An article by pulitzer prize winner Eugene Robinson summed it up nicely.
"Not all overheated political rhetoric is alike. Delusional right-wing crazy talk — the kind of ranting we’ve heard recently from washed-up rock star Ted Nugent and Tea Party-backed Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) — is a special kind of poison that cannot be safely ignored.
Let me be clear: I’m saying that the extreme language we hear from the far right is qualitatively different from the extreme language we hear from the far left — and far more damaging to the ties that bind us as a nation. Tut-tutting that both sides should tone it down is meaningless. For all intents and purposes, one side is the problem."
I think that says it nicely.
