J.P. Hinton, a sophomore at Coosa High School, took a scenic tour of Atlanta, on foot, last weekend as he competed in the Atlanta Marathon. However, Hinton’s pace was definitely not leisurely on his trek through streets of Atlanta. He finished in 8th place in the age group 19 and under with a time of just under four-and-a-half hours at 4:24:12. Hinton is on the cross-country team at Coosa High School.

The Atlanta Marathon started and finished at Atlantic Station near Midtown Atlanta on Saturday, October 28. The 26.2-mile course gave participants a tour of Atlanta, running past well known Atlanta sites and neighborhoods, including Centennial Olympic Park, the Georgia Aquarium, Turner Field, Grant Park, Inman Park, Virginia-Highland, Oakland Cemetery, Old Fourth Ward, Piedmont Park, Morningside and Buckhead. Hinton and other marathon participants received a commemorative medal for their accomplishment. Marathon finishers also received a collectable glass and a shirt.
