The Floyd County 4-H club recently celebrated the achievements of the 2011-2012 year with a dessert reception at the E.C.O. River Education Center at Ridge Ferry Park.

Floyd County 4-H agent Elizabeth Brewster and Program Assistant Beth Underwood recognized all fifth- and sixth-graders who competed at Cloverleaf District Project Achievement, a public speaking event hosted annually by Georgia Highlands College.

Also recognized were the seventh- through 12th-graders who competed in a Project Achievement event at Rock Eagle.

Special recognition was also given to Jasmine Holley for Excellence in Horsemanship for her completion of the novice level horsemanship record books and other notable horse related projects. Grace Welborn received the Citizenship Award for her selfless contribution to the club, its members, and the community. Several other awards were given during the evening including The Adult Volunteer Leader award (Melody Noyes), The Distinguished Service Award (Sylvia Johnson), recognition of 2012 graduated senior members Jennifer Sharp and Ellen Tomlin, and also recognition of the many outstanding 4-H volunteers including; Patsy Mecer, Ginny Word, Nelly Luthie, and Nita White.
