Romans young and old stood in line Saturday to have their pictures taken in front of the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile.

The iconic 27-foot hotdog-shaped van pulled into the Kroger parking lot at 1 p.m. Saturday ready to greet the masses and hand out coupons and Wiener Whistles.

“We came here special just for this. Just to see the Wienermobile,” Tracy Swann of Rome said.

Swann came to Kroger with her family to see the van and get their picture made. “This is going on Facebook right now,” Swann said.

The Wienermobile is driven by two Oscar Mayer staff members call “hotdoggers.” The hotdogger teams travel the country for one year, visiting 52 regions and countless fans.

Hotdogger Kylie Nellis said she expected about 400 people at the Rome stop.

“When the wiener pulls in people come running,” said Nellis. “People love to tell us their stories, everyone has a wiener story.”

Today the Wienermobile travels to Gainesville and Suwanee, and on Monday it will visit Roswell and Atlanta.

@ Mipoco ....Golly, I'm sorry I sure can't. I'd lose their confidence as friend. I told them about my post, and she said 'they would have to take 5th amendment". He, He, guess I can't blame them, after all this IS Floyd County.

"four hours on stage"

Unbelievable at his age.

Thanks on the bean tip. I suppose the season is about ended so I will try to get by there.

It's probably still there. Think I'll call some friends and see if they wanna get some pictures taken with the Ole Oscar Mayer. I'm also kinda sure this couple has a wiener story. Kylie Nellis said...

Dang, I missed out on the Wiener Whistle. We went over to the Alabama Butterbean Festival today. Still this was interesting. Was hoping they had fresh green butterbeans but it was dry lima beans.
