A Catoosa County pharmacist believes authorities were already on the lookout for a bank robber when they foiled a bank heist in Ringgold Thursday.

Dale Cope, who owns Highland Pharmacy in the same shopping center where the attempted robbery occurred, said rumors surfaced weeks ago that FSB Bank might be a robbery target.

“It was about three weeks ago, I was talking to (a business person who works in the same shopping center),” Cope said Friday. “He said they were keeping an eye out for a possible robbery.”

The suspect in Thursday’s robbery attempt at FSG Bank at the intersection of Poplar Springs Road and Ga. 151 (Alabama Highway) was driving a blue Ford Explorer. Police arrested 32-year-old Timothy Shane Kellum of Pleasant View, Tenn.

Sgt. Wilborn Dycus, interim police chief for the Ringgold Police Department, declined Friday to respond to Cope’s comments. He said he could not comment because the crime is still under investigation.
