The Snapshot in Time lecture hosted by the Rome Area History Museum will have a musical twist this month as it features mountain music from the 1800s.

Instead of taking place at the museum, the event, beginning Friday at 5:30 p.m., will be at the Rome Civic Center on Jackson Hill.

“It’s going to be mostly a musical evening. It is education of the music from the British Isles,” stated Leigh Barba, executive director of the Rome Area History Museum.

More than 50 members from the Georgia Mountain Music Club will perform to give people a taste of the unique music.

“I’m expecting a great crowd,” Barba said. “All the events at the Rome Area History Museum have hit a record in attendance lately. I really appreciate everyone who comes out to the events.”

Admission is $3 and free for museum members.

Barba said she is really appreciative to Malcolm Talley, J.T. Bishop and Elizabeth Womble for their help in organizing the event.

“They have done so much for us and I’m very grateful. The concert is going to be a lot of fun and I’m looking forward to it,” she said.

Chelsea Latta, a senior at Model High School, is an intern with the Rome News-Tribune.
