Northwest Georgia Paving officials notified the city’s Public Works office Monday that delays on another job would push back the stimulus-funded project in Rome. Paving crews will do the work on Broad Street at night so as to cause as little disruption to downtown business as can be avoided.
The contract calls for the paving work to be completed by July 1 and that deadline is not affected by the delay in the start up. “I don’t see any problem with them being able to meet the deadline,” said Jamie McCord, Public Works director for the city of Rome.
