More of the wooden supports from an old railroad bridge have been unearthed along the Heritage Park levee, and the work to dismantle them has also begun.

The city is working to move the levee access point into Heritage Park from the Jewell Frost Drive entrance to a point on Second Avenue across from West Fifth Street by Barron Stadium.

Chris Hobgood, with Astra Grading & Pipe, which is doing the work, said some of the wood has already been removed and taken to the landfill.

He said some of the wood was in surprisingly good shape despite being buried since 1939.
