Blue Ridge Mountain Outdoors magazine has ranked Berry College among the most eco-friendly colleges in the southeast.

In the Cool Schools designation, Berry was listed fourth among colleges with enrollment of 7,500 or fewer. Schools honored on the list are in Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.

The magazine singled Berry out for its large campus, including a 16,000-acre Wildlife Management Area and a reservoir that provides hiking and mountain biking trails, student campsites and other recreation opportunities; extensive building retrofits for efficiency and student-run campus garden.

Ranking tops among small schools were University of North Carolina Asheville and Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, N.C. The No. 1 large school was Emory University in Atlanta. Click here for the complete list.
