LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) — A Gwinnett County man faces animal abuse and child cruelty charges after deputies say the man severely beat a family pet in front of his two children.

Dainley Dewayne Green is being held in the Gwinnett County Jail.

Stacey Bourbonnais of the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department, says his wife called to report his abuse of a 2-year-old dachshund named Rocky.

Officials say the dog was strangled and suffered a fractured skull and a disfigured eye.
