A flood watch has been issued by The National Weather Service. The The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a flood watch for portions of Northwest Georgia, East Central Georgia, North Central Georgia and Northeast Georgia from Tuesday morning through Tuesday evening as an intense upper-level trough will sweep from the south central U.S. into the southeast U.S. Tuesday. Deep gulf moisture will accompany this system as it moves through the state. Rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 2.0 inches are expected across much of North Georgia during the day Tuesday. Rainfall amounts may exceed 2.0 inches in parts of North Central and North-east Georgia. The heaviest rain is expected to fall from mid-morning through early afternoon, then gradually diminish from the south during the afternoon.

The ground across North Georgia remains saturated from recent repeated heavy rainfall events. Additional rainfall may result in renewed creek and stream flooding, as well as minor flooding of low-lying and flood prone areas. At this time a significant flood event is not anticipated.
